good for the price......... are they public safety radios ? NO but for someone who wants them for conventional and analog repeater use , who doesnt see high volume of use, they are perfect

but they are more for business radios..... but i have sold lots to EMS agencies and they love them !

i am a dealer for them for a few years......... i sell alot of blackbox any questions feel free to contact me directly !

I am also a dealer we have over 50 in use and are selling more everyday - all to businesses and so far, knock on wood have only had 1 radio fail and 1 battery fail. Both were replaced under warranty without issue.

For the price they are worth every penny... not sure I would use them for a public safety application, not that they won't work, I just don't know if they will hold up to the abuse of 24 hour service, rolling around with criminals, weather conditions, etc.

I would look for some used public safety rated portables before opting out for the lower end stuff.

Stay away from 2 pin mic connectors if you plan on using lapel mics.

I agree Black Box is a decent radio, but for business and industrial users.

You may be able to find some used decent Motorola HT750s or some Kenwood portables.
