could make a cardboard template of the glass curvature, then convert it over to some sheetmetal. cut out and line the leading edge with some sort of tubing split down the side(maybe fish tank air line) and either use exhisting screw mount locations, or pop rivit it on.

So I attempted to trim the plastic flashback shield and punted. Would have been way to difficult. Did as you suggested, hitech, and made a cardboard template. Any particular place you'd recommend getting the sheetmetal? Does Lowes/Home Depot carry lightweight sheet?

I have gone to Wal-Mart and bought some foam art board. It is already black. If you get a razor knife you can score and bend it to shape. Then attach it with 2-sided tape.
