The Federal Sign & Signal Corporation anticipated this 50+ years ago, remarking in the PA-20A manual, "HI-LO: In this position, a two tone sound will be heard. This distinctive tone may be reserved or used for any special indication or situation."

Too bad none of the public has been educated about it. I guess this means all of us vollies need to program that tone out, since it WAS considered a "non-siren" tone.

Edit: After reading the modified section, it is still considered a "non-siren" tone.
