so I have been seeing the new CHP liberty Lightbar and have been seeing differences from the factory model there are new leds that I haven't seen like on the side alley lights and the rear left and right side. I will post pics of what I am talking about I just want to know what model they are also does anyone know what light and mount they use for the pushbar lights? thanks

the one on the left side of the alley is what I am talking about

Is that one of those SXTLED heads in the middle of the bar - their "Super" takedown?

Yes it is.

I'm pretty sure they're Whelen Raiders on the push bumper and mirrors. I think they may have gotten a special mount or something for the mirrors, I can't find anything on their website other than ION mirror mounts, and they haven't offered 500-series mirror mounts since the Crown Vic. And again they're LINZ6's on the sides and rear.

To my knowledge, CHP had several custom lights made for them by Whelen.

The raiders are dash n grill lights.

The Chargers and CVPI's did have the 500 series lightheads. At least the explorers I have seen also have a custom 500 series mirror light which doesn't seem to be standard to the public.

As I understand it CHP wanted to keep one lighting platform so it's very easy from a maintenance perspective to field service and keep units in service.

The unmarked cars usually have a 5 lamp 500 series led arrow stick to the rear which I believe is also custom for CHP.

Finally I believe a lot of the programming for the Liberties is custom for CHP.

Hope that helps

They have a semi-custom setup for the Libby (it's unique for them but it's not like Whelen reinvented the wheel for them). They have the centered super led TD centered and (instead of having an LR11 on each side of the center lighthead (as is common with many newer Libbys that you see with a centered clear 500 with a LR11 on each side), they have the LR11s spread as far apart from the super led TD to maximize the width of the TD footprint on traffic stops. And yes, the alley has a linz6 (the lin3 has been an underutilized option there for a while, but since the linz6 is the same size, upgrading to a linz6 is a no-brainer)

The rear lighting is a custom inner-edge type of deck light; it has 7 modules (BAAAAAR). When flashing, the 2nd and 6th module are deactivated, so that the outer modules are alternating with only the inner 3 Amber modules (not all 5 of them), then all Amber modules are activated when TA is used. I also believe that, depending on the direction the TA is going, either the blue or red module is deactivated (ie left TA feature deactivates the red module on the right)

They use raiders mounted at 45 degrees for grill-level warning. They used to mount them at 45 degrees inward, but they changed the PB a little while back, so now they are angled outward (the only problem with the new config is that the vertical push bars on the PB block most of the forward-facing output of the raiders)

For their slickktops, the dash light has several unique features. The blue half can be turned off (so that only the red half is on steady) and when the vehicle is parked, the blue side (if it's activated) goes from flashing to steady burn.

pdk9 is pretty much on point. CHP seem to be fanatic about their lighting and a lot of the stuff is custom config from Whelen. Single alternating flash pattern and steady burn on all light heads when parked. I like most of what they do, except the steady burn blue to the rear when the amber TA is on. It is full brightness, even at night, so it is very bright.

Actually not a Raider ... they are T1 and T2. I have a picture of the tag somewhere.

From the T1R install sheet:

"This light is sold in 2 models. A steady burn light (Red LED) or a flashing

light (Blue LED). The light is always on when plugged in. When you apply

power to the BLUE dash light it will turn on and display the “SingleFlash”

pattern. When you plug the RED dash light into your cigar lighter it will turn

on and display the “Steady Burn” mode (no flash pattern)."

Any ideas on how to get several sets of the Pursuit Utility mirror beams?  I detest the Ion based mirror lights that Whelen currently sells?

Maybe get the part number for the housing and order a Series 500 head later?

It almost looks like they have bolted the housing on to the factory mirror instead of using a glamour cap.  This picture really shows the setup well:

so the LINZ6 on the alley is that custom? can I contact whelen and get one ordered? I am trying to make a CHP replica lightbar. and want to be as accurate as possible

where can one get a T1 and T2? for cheap? do you know of a place or someone where I can get a set?.

LOL, never recognized CHP is still running 500 series mirror beams.

I simply typed cup mirror beams into google and found out that there was a special chp mirror beam for the crown vic.

Nothing about the utility though. Did anyone tried to ask Whelen if they have them on special order?
