Hi all, I don't come around much but I'm looking at upgrading my lighting a little bit, but my vehicle is a lease and I don't want to do too much permanent mounting or wiring. Can any of the newer, better quality visor lights be used with a cigar plug? I don't need a bunch of fancy switches or anything. I know some of these lights are becoming more computer components than electrical devices these days so I want to be sure before I buy anything. I know you can get visor lights with cigar plugs from the cheap-O companies but I'm hoping for a bit better quality. I'm thinking something from either feniex or whelen, or even the ILB from strobes n more.

I searched and didn't find the same question but if this is a dupe, my apologies and thanks for the help.

Yes, they can be used on a cigar plug that is properly amp rated (aka not chinesium).

If you are interested, I have this nice used Whelen bar that I am willing to make a deal on. It isn't perfect but would likely help you out. Feel free to PM me and we can make a deal if you want.

Thanks, good to know. I see some of these newer bars with soo many wires it was overwhelming. Thanks for the offer as well but can't currently use red, blue or blue/white only.

If cost isn’t a big deal, and you are looking for something easy, look at the Whelen Avenger II series. I use these on quite a few of the Admin cars that I do. They are pretty effective if you get the dual version, and you can get them with a Cig plug pre-wired.

Edit: I should add, if you are using them as a visor light, you might need to make a custom bracket, otherwise a pile of good VHB tape on the supplied bracket, and stuck to a clean windshield will hold up.
