Good job of venting.  Surprised to see water going in the attic while firefighters are still entering the structure after the roof collapses.  Not trying to second guess anyone.

I don't want to cause an argument but it was a poor job at venting. especially cutting a hole in the front of the roof which in turn pulled the fire from the rear to the front.

I personally would not trust that roof ladder; that is such an awkward place to set the hooks (on the corner edge of the sloped roof) that I wouldn't have any confidence in its ability to hold up. And i def think the chief on the alpha side is an idiot for unnecessarily standing right under it.

As for the venting, I agree with LAFD...the front of the structure looked to be the least involved, thus the attack should've started on the alpha side and pushed any fire back out of the Charlie side to protect the uninvolved half of the home (thus they should've only vented on the rear half of the building as an opening for the heat/smoke to escape). My guess is that someone got excited and just wanted to break shit & pull out the saw.

With regards to Safety9, does the safety officer in that dept get his own takehome car like the chiefs?

Here in the Town of Colonie all Safety Officers have cars along with 3 chiefs per department with 12 departments total. In a 58 square mile area...
