Made a deal with Capt. Upfitter, he asked for payment via Western Union. He PMs me with his information and I go to the Western Union office. The System was down and I was told to come back in a few hours. PM sent to Capt. Upfitter to let him know about the delay. He tells me that it was a good thing Western Union was down....someone came and bought everything he had. At what point was he going to tell me this? We made the deal yesterday. I was to make the payment via Western Union today.

I am sorry to hear of your poor experience. I would not advise ever paying someone you have not met via Western Union due to fraud.

Western Union advises the following on their website:
“Make sure you know to whom you are sending money. If you are purchasing goods or services and paying through the Western Union network, it is your responsibility to verify the reputation and legitimacy of the seller. Western Union is not responsible for the non-receipt or quality of any goods or services.”
