Hello all,
this is a recent grab off *bay. Amber 7-05 mag mount. It is fully functional. It is in used but not abused condition, I would say a solid 7. I have been wanting one of these little beacons for a bit and was able to catch this one.
The impulse flash reminds me of a jr. beacon ray when viewed at a distance.

Some pics.

Thanks for looking,

Neat little light. What kind of base does those bulbs have? I wonder if they are easy to find or not..

Incorrect. From what I've heard, those bulbs are nearly impossible to find.
I worked for the RE Dietz company from 1968 until they closed March 1st of 1990 I am very sure those are 4411 I will dig out my instruction manual if you want me to.

Yes, I'm with Dan on this one. That's two manufacturers that this Mort has said he's worked for...

Great little light. Have one myself and it's always fun watching it run.

There's the dilemma; do you run it for the pleasure of watching it knowing the bulb life is decreasing with each revolution, or do you leave it on the shelf never to turn and burn again? I've pulled all the 60w bulbs from my beacons to preserve them (don't need them for display anyway), but at least I have substitutes.

I make a video of each light when I get them cleaned up then watch that over and over instead of repowering the fragile ones

Fat finger on the keyboard. The bulbs are no where near the size of a PAR 36.

This little beacon is out of my norm definitely but they are neat and a bit unusual due to the mechanics. I will pull it apart and look at the bulb to locate any possible numbers.
I did run it for a minute to ensure function. Both bulbs burned bright and it rotated quickly!!

Again neat little beacons and nice piece for collection. I would like to find addition domes in different colors, if that doesn't cost a small fortune, along with two spare bulbs!!

Thanks to all who have commented.

Correct! #3617 was the 35 watt version. There was a 50 watt version that came in some of the 7-05 units that I've owned/bought/sold and there was a distinct difference between them in output. The 50 watt versions also had a clearer, more transparent lens to the PAR16 bulb which gave a sharper flash versus the glare from the slightly frosted 35 watt faces. That old video I posted a while back with the 7-05's on my wrecker will show the difference as a couple of the old bulbs are original and (I think) two are the replacement 35 watters that were the only bulbs still available. The 50 watt units did have the tendency to melt the lead contact on the base of the bayonet socket over time due to the added amp draw...

Years ago, I remember all those 3617's being available in colors, too but they were for different applications as I don't ever remember the 7-05's ever being available in clear (or green for that matter). Several other applications for those bulbs also included accent lighting and lawn tractor headlamps with fluted or diffused lenses.

Isn't 4411 a PAR 36 sealed beam bulb, with a fluted face?
The bulbs in this light are much smaller than PAR 36. PAR 16 maybe?, and not fluted.
Dan is correct. A # 4411 is a 35watt trapezoid-pattern PAR36 sealed beam with standard screw-terminal contacts on the back.

Even though I'm also a big fan of these little lights, I'm not thrilled with the mechanicals...rather cheesy source of power for the bulbs at the base of the center shaft. Maybe helps explain their short lives? The motor assembly is satisfactory as is the bulb cage, dome and housing but...

I'm not trying to breathe life into an old thread of mine, but I finally sourced a red dome in addition to the amber one it came with. I'm happy that it arrived well packed and not damaged. All that it needed was some tlc to remove some silver paint that was on it. I am continuing the search for a good/similar condition blue dome which will complete this project.

Thanks for taking a look.
Chris

UPDATE: Project complete!!!

I feel fortunate that I now have sourced a BLUE dome for this neat little light. The best part is it's NOS and came with matching RED and AMBER NOS domes as well! Yes I sourced 3 NOS domes. All domes arrived today and in perfect condition. A quick cleaning and polish and they look amazing! I consider this collection project completed and am very excited to have all 3 safety colors for this neat little light. See attached pics.

Forgive the exclusion of a video but those that know these lights know the bulbs are near impossible to find and since both mine work, I want to keep them that way.

Super nice lights!
I found some spar bulbs some years back on Ebay and purchased all of them.
I believe (6) of them. Now if I can just remember where I put them!
I believe a Napa store was selling off old stock. I paid $12.00 each for them.

Well I hate to be that guy but it looks like green was also a color. For those who don’t know I’m obsessed with The color and spend hours upon hours on the hunt for it. Well in this particular occasion it paid off I present to you A Dietz 7-05 with a NOS GREEN dome!
I got The light dirt cheap but the catch is both bulbs are shot. And yes, I know how difficult they are to fine, so if anybody has any bulbs I will gladly purchase them. Pretty please! Lol then I will post a video. :)
