Do I need special mounting

I recently purchased a 1989 Maxim tiller and I am in the process of upgrading to LED lighting. I know with the Whelen M6’s I would need a mounting adapter to put them into this housing but will Whelen 600 series leds fit without an adapter? Thanks

Whelen makes an adapter for 600-series lightheads to work in the standard KD headlight mount. The part number is 6EHDLTMK.

Whelen makes a difference adapter for M6 lightheads to work in the KD or ATI headlight mount. The part number is M6HDLTMK.

Just a quick observation, in one of your other posts you said that you were trying to outfit your Maxim with "time period specific items." Since LED emergency lighting didn't exist in 1989, are you sure that you want to go that route? If you'll be using it for fire duty such as an industrial plant then by all means change out the modules, but if you plan to show it at musters/parades etc, there may be some who criticize the non-correct appearance. I understand that was the last year of Maxim production so you have a pretty unique and desirable truck. At the end of the day it's your truck so do what makes you happy, but just think of a 55 Chevy chief's car with an Edge bar. Good luck with your project.
