Dodge Charger Horn Ring

Just got a civilian 2008 Dodge Charger SE+ which I will be installing lights and siren on for FD use. I have a SmartSiren which I would like to hook up to the horn ring. Can anybody tell me what wire(s) I'm looking for and where they are located?

I don't believe the civilian Charger has the same interface as the police or taxi edition. My suggestion is to cut the horn wire under the hood and extend it back to the smart siren. You'll need a relay to complete the job, I can give you instructions if you need as I just did this on a customer's vehicle (Guy M. here on the board).

Since I don't have many mounting options with the center console in this Charger, I'm putting the SmartSiren control head in the center armrest storage compartment. I want to connect the horn ring to the SmartSiren so I don't have to reach back and change siren tones.

Find horn unit under dash.


Unplug connector.


Determine feed wire (12v+ when horn button is pressed.)


Cut feed wire.


Install standard SPST automotive ISO switching relay near horn. Wire as follows:


85 - White wire from SS2000 12-pin harness


86 - Ground


87 - Horn side of above cut horn feed wire


87a - No connection


30 - 12v Battery + (fused to carry horn current, typically 20A)


White/Yellow wire from SS2000 12-pin harness will be connected to the horn button side of above cut horn feed wire.


That's it.

Question- for a siren without an integral horn transfer feature, can an 'ON-ON' switch be installed between the horn ring and the horn just beforn the horn, 1. the horn ring side going into the switch,

2. one terminal out to the horn,

3. the other terminal out to the remote trigger of the siren, all without a relay?
