Good Morning All!!

Here’s my new ride!! I traded in the Acura for a new 2009 Chevy Tahoe LT2. It was time to go back to a 4x4. The new Tahoe is awesome! A girlfriend of mine named him… lol

Disclaimer… In Maryland, volunteer fire and EMS providers don’t run lights or sirens in their POV’s. I am a FF/ Flight Paramedic. This vehicle is used as a DEMO vehicle for my side business. The lighting/sirens in this vehicle are in NO way used for anything other than demonstration purposes in this state.

The goals for this vehicle…

- Totally Stealth… I didn’t want anything mounted on the exterior of the vehicle… except behind the grill and in the headlight/taillight housings.

- Clean, professional looking install

- Effective emergency lighting in all directions, and ample siren output to adequately give the public a “tap on the shoulder.”

Here’s what he has in him…

Front:

- Interior SOS Pinnacle – R/R/R/W/W/R/R/R – in Headliner

- SOS Ultralite – R/W/W/R - on Lower Dash

- Whelen Inner Beams – R/R - on Lower Dash at 45’s

- 911EP TDWL 24 all red – in Upper Grill

- 2 Whelen M6’s - R/R – in Lower Grill

- Whelen UHF2150A HLF

- 2 Federal Signal AS124 Speakers

Side:

- 2 Axixtech Xtreme 9 Dash Light – R/W/R – in Rear Side Doors

- 2 SOS Ultralites – R/W/R/R – Rear Side Windows

Rear:

- Whelen Dominator 8 – All Red – Rear Headliner

- Whelen Dominator 8 – All Amber – Traffic Advisor mounted below Red D8

- 2 Nova SD24’s – R/R – Mounted in Tailgate

- 4 HAW’s on Whelen ISP188 in 4 Red Taillight Sections

- 2 Nova X1100’s in Amber in Backup Light Section

Interior:

- Tahoe Specific Havis Console

- Motorola Astro Spectra VHF 100w mobile with HHCH

- Uniden BCD996t

- Custom Switch Panel

- Unitrol Omega 5000 control head

- Dual Unitrol Omega 90’s

- Rear Custom Cabinet

- 8 Switch Panel

- Traffic Advisor Controller

- Grover Stuttertone Airhorn

I’d like to thank several people here on the board, as I’ve borrowed some of their ideas from their previous installs. These include Cajunblitz, Hugh A, Andy L, R. Dodd and Tiawah466. Thank you Gents!

This is ONLY phase one. In the coming months, Tony will be modified… stayed tuned for what’s in store next!!

As always, constructive criticism is always welcomed.

Enjoy!

Seth

Couple Questions....

How many girlfriends do you have?

And what are you doing listening this shit

Zach,

I have enough girlfriends running around to keep me occupied ;) Very nice pickup on the XM... I didn't even see what was playing on the radio... classic... It shows a more sensitive side to the girlfriends :D

Crazy,

The arrow stick controller is in the rear cabinet... I found if I were to need it, I usually have to go to the back of the truck anyway... no point in cluddering the console more...

Thanks for the compliments!

Cheers!

Very Nice Job, Seth!

Q: Did you consider putting Par 36's in place of the fog lights? (Just Wondering?)

That's a Sweet Tahoe.

Thanks Everyone!

I think he turned out purty well :D He's not done yet though...

I did consider putting the PAR 36's in, and I might yet... but I like being able to still have the full functionality of the fog lights... plus... as an added bonus... I can turn on just the HLF... and when I turn on my highbeams... my fogs will stay on!! So more light output on the road... most likely will keep the regular fogs... but time will tell

Dave,

The NOVA's are CRAZY bright! and they're perfect for directional warning... you can mount them anywhere... I'm happy with them... I got them from Jared here on ELB, and he'll set you up!

Underhood and rear cabinet wiring porn... i mean photos will follow when the entire installation is finished... everything isn't as nicely put together as I'd like, because I've gotta pull the headlights again and a few other things...

Also... if anyone knows of a low-profile lowband antenna that'll do 30-50mhz, I'm in the market... Thinkin about putting one of the old Syntor x9000's that does the entire low band spectrum in... but I need a good covert antenna.

Thanks All!

There's nothing THAT widebanded. The most you're going to get is about 6-7MHz out of one. There's a formula sheet floating around where you can cut the feedlines a certain length to make 2 antennas work, so you can cover the 30-40 and 40-50 segments with antennas cut for 35 and 45.

Fog,

Thanks for the info. I may just forgo the lowband. I haven't decided yet. Really don't want an antenna farm on the truck.

Doc,

Talked with the girlfriend and if the Tahoe has to be a girl... she likes "Tammy the Tahoe" best... Thoughts??

Work on the Tahoe is in a holding pattern while I move... Hopefully I'll get back to work on it around the end of the month.

Thanks for all the input!

I like that switch panel. When I was doing my last havis console, I couldn't find a 7 switch panel in their listings, so I had to make one myself.

If they premake a 7 switch panel I would definatly love to know it.

I think it's awesome that you got a new vehicle and don't even know what it is.

It's LTZ, not LT2.

Since you decided to come in here and be a smartass troll for no reason...unless you see where its specifically marked as an LTZ; there is such a thing as an LT2 package that was available in 2009 that would include all of the options you see in the photos. Might wanna do some research before you come in here runnin' your mouth off...

Are you saying that the truck in this thread doesnt have an emblem behind the rear doors?

No i miss worded that, my bad! This car does have the emblems behind the rear door but they say LT which denotes this Tahoe as an LT1 OR LT2 Package, the LTZ packages all have "LTZ" emblems, versus the "LT"

Where'd you mount the tank for the Grover, and how big is it? Great looking install btw!

Thanks Cajun! The tank is mounted in a rear cabinet the harbors all the electronics, air tank and other assorted goodies:) Currently everything is outta the Tahoe and I'm doing some updating. Hope to have it back together in the next couple weeks and I'll shoot some pictures and video of it. The compressor is 3L 150PSI compressor... The grover packs a punch! lol ;)
