Recently found some goodies for cheap at a sale. A Federal Signal Flash Ball in excellent condition, a roughly used Fed Sig Fireball with a Flash Ball plate and spare red dome.

Thought I’d ask for help on identifying the last one; it’s a handheld light with a cigar plug and has electromagnets on the bottom with an on/off push button on the back. The lamp bulb appears to be a GE sealed beam. It comes from the New Orleans Police Department, not sure if it was something made in one of the mechanic shops for the city.

Thanks for any help,
AM

Can't help you with that sealed beam monstrosity, but it might have been a shop fabricated deal. The real Flashball is a great find, those things, although when new were 2/3 the price of a Fireball, are now worth a lot more than a Fireball.

Thanks, I’ve never seen anything like it before so I knew it was different. I’ll try to find some old NOPD guys and ask about it.

Great grab! The sealed beam looks to me like a North American Signal Co. single can. It may be a shop concocktion, but the handle looks nice enough to be factory. The magnetic base looks pretty rough. Tough to know on that one.

Thanks I’ll look around online to see if I can find something that looks similar

It has a McDermot look about it IMHO.
