Federal 174

Just got a steal on this Super Beacon, Federal 174. Even has the original clear glass dome! It has a cut base as it came off of an old ambulance. Has the removeable quick connect system found on Superior Coach units. the center threaded rod secures it down and grounds it and the metal tang contacts a plate on the roof that provides power. Cool setup. Manufactured June 1964.

Indiana State Police 174s (many years ago) used clear domes with red/clear bulbs…red on dwell, of course). Very cool find!

The quick disconnect so that the vehicle can go back to being a hearse is a cool feature.
