I am trying to research and put a timeline to Federal Electric Sirens. If you have one and can post a photo of it and (especially} the tag I would really appreciate it.

(Sorry, no pictures) I have a Federal Signal Director siren I believe is from the late 1960's (not working) and a Fed Sig Interceptor PA20A currently installed and working in my 1972 Buick Squad car. I think the PA20A is from the mid 1970's.

Do you mean Federal Electric before it became the Federal Signal Corporation (i.e. timeline of all sirens manufactured before 1955?)

Federal Electric before 1948, it became Federal Enterprises in 1949, then FSS in 1955. I am trying to find Federal Electric or the ones that just say Federal Siren which is very early.

I read the tag as Type Z.
Your right it is a Z, I just looked at it wrong. I'm early into the dating of these. Federal Electric tags started showing up around 1922 and I know they swapped from Type to Model before 1940 maybe as early as 1935. Not sure if I have a date on the model Z yet when it first emerged. Thought I had something on it somewhere, still looking. But we are between 1922 and 1940 so far.

This is why I was thinking there was a light. This is a 1935 patent.

Great, thanks. I can see how it looks like a type 2 in the photo.
