Federal Signal PA20A Series 2E siren restoration

I purchased a well-used FS PA20A Series 2E off of eBAY several months ago. The unit functions on all modes. It was in rough looking shape. It had collected dirt and dust from the vent holes over the years on the internals. It had some kind of coating on the chassis cover too. I carefully vacuumed out the insides and used canned air, making sure to not blow dust into the switches. I finally located a blue paint (courtesy of NAPA) and got a can of custom paint mixed up. I think it's a good match to the original color. I also sanded the chassis cover down and used a etching primer. The finishing touch of the restoration was the resto kit sold by DCaptain. I also want to add the splatter look to the chassis cover. I have attached some before and after photos of the siren. My intention is to add this to my planned collection of vintage and current fire stuff in my basement to highlight my 43 years of volunteer service. I have been a big fan of Federal Signal over the years, and I like the high pitch sound the 2E makes. I had a 2E on my first Fire Chief POV back in the early 80's. It moved traffic very nicely. It was a fun little project to bring some life and luster back to "old school" classic electronics I grew up with in the service. Enjoy!

If you want to play that thing inside, I make volume limiters for these that work great. PM for details if interested.

Thanks....

I have 500 Ohm/5 watt wirewound resistors for cutting volume down at this point. I read that one of those resistors inline should be enough to reduce to a safe level. I am interested in seeing what you got. Thanks!
