Today, I got an amber Galls/Code-3 Trafficbuster light bar, and an amber Dietz 7-40 Beacon. I got them both for $10 each! Can anyone tell me some information on the light bar? I cant find anything about it. It looks just like an LP6000.

The lightbar is a Code 3 LP6000 that has been re-branded by Galls. It also has the free-form rotators instead of the aluminum kind. Not a bad score for $20 all around!

So, im assuming that lp6000 parts will work with this bar, right?

Yes, the original LP6000 aluminum rotators will work for yours. The bases for both types of rotators are the same so you are good to go.

I hate you.

;)

The parts are interchangeable, we had a mix of them in our fleet in the late 80's. Unless you cleaned the hell out of the insides, that bar looks essentially brand-new, with the obvious exception of the domes looking a little toasted.

Great find! I wish there were more flea markets around my area.

I always loved those clear circle cutouts on the Code 3 bars. It was nice to have a white allery light and not have to have clear outer domes.

Gall's hasn't sold those bars in several years and the condition of the inside of that bar makes it obvious that it has very little running time. It was probably on a vehicle that saw little use, like the security vehicle at a casino near here that has the same identical bar on it and they never use it. They've had the vehicle about 5 years now and all it does is sit inside their parking garage. I'll bet (little casino joke) it's bar looks just like that one inside.

BTW, if you want to sell your bar at double or even triple your money, I'll take it! Let me know.....

I will fourduple your money, that's 300% pure profit ;)

The clear cutouts are neato, particularly the ones that had 2 alleys per side. The one option I always wanted but never saw were the dual rotators mounted in the (clear) center section.

The LPs are slick little bars, it would not bug me a bit to run one now.

The one you've got looks like it could be the perfect host for building a wicked cool unit.

What's the material on the base of the lightbar? It looks like some kind of metal tape. How well did that stuff hold up over the years?

My code 3 mx has the same tape... Seems like something a little better than duct tape.... The tape in my bar seems original and duct tape wouldn't last that long imho...

That tape is factory installed and it is very similar to the chrome tape that many air conditioning/heating installers use on ductwork.

Upon closer inspection, I noticed that frame is actually a first generation, as the later generation frames were slightly different inside. Those second generation rotators were probably installed in that original frame about the time Code 3 made their material changeover from metal to plastic, and since that bar is branded as a Gall's special, that's probably another reason why it has the mixture of generations. Code 3 may have been using the original frames left in their inventory to build the Gall's specials.
