Helmet question

Not sure if this is in the right area or not so I’ll apologize in advance


Other then leathers and “soup bowls” were there any American fire helmets produced in or around the late 1980’s? I recently purchased a 1989 Maxim tiller that I’m trying to outfit with time period specific items. Thanks

I'm not an expert but it was only in the late 70's - early 80's that performance specs came into being for fire helmets, from OSHA and NFPA. There were certainly composite and plastic helmets produced in the 80's but they didn't really take off until some of the larger city FD's adopted them. For a 1989 truck you can't go wrong with leather.
