OK, So I have this bar on my car. Ya know, the Vision I have been wanting to put on?? Ya... That one. And I need to run the wire to a fuse that only is hot when the car is in the run/start position. I called a dealership and they said to find the "ACC" fuse but for the life of me I can not find it in any of the fuse blocks, anything in the manual about it, so I am getting a little peeved needless to say.

Also, I am going to probably need some major trouble shooting when I get this done. If anyone is willing to help me I would greatly appreciate it. I am sure I have everything going the right way but when I tried to power the bar to see if it lit up it just beeped. I can put it in program mode and the siren works, but that's it.

Last, I need ideas on where to mount this control head. I think I have thought of just about everything and I can't find a decent spot. It's going in a 01 Imapala and I do not have a center console. I have tried mounting it in the overhead little storage console but it just won't work.

Assuming you truly can't find an ACC tap on the fuseblock:

Splice a wire to the radio power wire, put a switch in it, and run that wire to a relay that then powers the lights through its own fused circuit. That way the light switch will only operate if your ignition is in ACC or ON, and they will shut off if you turn the ignition OFF.

I agree. The only thing that came clost wasn't a fuse but a breaker.

I think by ACC they mean any device that comes on only when the key is turned. such as wind shield wipers, power antennaes etc.

I always used a fuse tap off the fuel pump fuse. It has to stay hot while the vehicle is being cranked. Just be sure to relay it.

Look for the fuse for the car's radio. There will be two; one hot all the time, second on/off with the key. As long as it is not a newer ford or chevy the "switched" one will be in the passenger compartment. Newer chevys have it under the hood.

FWIW, IIRC, 01 and newer Impala radio's use a class 2 serial data bus for radio...so where you can normally tap into the switched power on the radio to power the relay, you can't do it without risking frying the radio.

If you really can't locate a switched power wire, you could probably create your own circuit with a direct line to the Vision and installing your own on/off switch.
