ID this antenna

I recently saw this on a local installers page. Looks like some sort of antenna that is mounted to the side of the push bumper. Anyone seen it before? Any idea what it is?

Its for taking the temperature of the surface of a  roadway for the application of salt.Road salt only works in a certain temperature range Its not really an antenna. There is a  digital display in the vehicle

I was thinking maybe wireless mic but its kinda low for that. Temp sensor makes sense.
