Hello all I am trying to get some new selling points for our installs. We are fully insured at 1,000,000 per incident. This covers vehicles buildings after market equipment tools etc...... My big question is if an installer is not insured or the agency has say a city garage complete the installation does the PDs insurance cover it if faulty wireing causes the fire. Any input on this would help I am sure others are curious as well.

just like any insurance, they will try their best to get out of paying, if they can point a finger or push the liability or partial libality on to another persn or insurance they will try , you need to have documentation that the work that you do is of industry standard.

some police depts are self insured, so if they did the work then they eat it. I suppose that a department could try and go after a non insured installer, but from my experiance its not worth it to them, it takes too much time and money to try and get their money out of something, I work for a llarger public agency and its amazing how many times they pay out claims to people that it was not our fault, however its costs more to fight the claim than to pay it
