Interior bar for a 2001 Ranger?

I am helping a friend do an install on a 2001 Ford Ranger. He has an Avenger but he doesn't trust suction cups. He was wondering if there was an interior bar that works well in a Ranger? Any ideas?

If the Avenger is working but suction cups are the problem he could put a dab of silicon under each one or use the coat hanger trick.
