I came across this very "original" mounting bracket... Never, ever seen on in reality.

Has anyone come across such a device ?

I saw one used, once, didn't seem to be as effective as a Fireball dash light at the time. In this day and age you'd need a bench seat without a big headrest, such as in a pickup. I was also gonna buy the one on Ebay a few months ago for the hell of it, but the price went past where I thought it was worth it.

I can remember seeing a traffic stop that had something like that back in the mid 70's I was driving from Columbus to St Louis and saw it somewhere in Indiana or Illinois...

It's hard to find any vehicle with a traditional bench seat anymore. All the new pickups I've worked with, even the very basic trucks, have folding armrests that act as the backrest for the middle seat.

Thank y'all.

From the overall response it would appear this set up was not very common (let alone efficient !), and I suppose a picture of a real install will be quite a challenge !

I'd think it would have been very distracting to have a sealed beam beacon running next to the driver's head. A Fireball on the dash with a cover to protect the driver's eyes was a much better idea.

Just to be clear, The bracket was sold without a light. Any light that the owner had could be installed on the bracket, like a Fire Ball, which was probably more common than a 14. Not that it would make a difference in flashback.
