ION universal mount vs Surface mount differences?

Couldn't quite think of a better title - but I will need to convert a pair (if possible) a pair of universal moun ions to surface mount.

Other than the mounting option, is there any other physical difference between the lightheads that would prevent this? The drawings seem tonindicTe a slight size difference - so unsure if there are any tabs/retainers on the surface mount version.

The surface mount ION and multi mount ION are completely different lights. A multi mount cannot be surface mounted.
