Hi - just got this CA front light. Red lens under plastic cover. Model 830. The wire harness has black, red, green and white wires. Small gauge. Does the light open and turn on with power applied to red? Anyone know what other wires do? Thanks

I may need to pull apart. I think it is different from the FS version. The reflector for the bulb is smaller then the lens are so the motor or actuator has room. Even it does not work - it is a cool piece. I have the bracket to mount it to the headliner. Love the CA still burn reds. Cop lite is another company that had these lights. Thanks John

I wouldn't pull it apart yet - until you've tried wiring it up to see if it works. That video, it looks like black to ground and red to positive then is touching both the green & yellow to the red/positive wire to turn the light on/open the cover....then removes the green & yellow to shut it off/close the lid. I have a couple of these I haven't messed with in a few years...I'll find them and try that on mine, too, and let you know.

Found mine and works just like that video posted earlier...hadn't messed with them in a couple years. Just hook black to negative....red to positive. Then touch both of the other wires (yellow and green) to the red/positive wire to turn it on/open the cover....then remove the yellow/green wires from the positive/red wire to shut off/close the lid. Here's a video of mine. (I had to help the blue one close a little...think it had too much weight since it was sitting there not on a bracket like the red one.)

IPF used to offer a couple of versions for civilian usage, one with a clear lens as a "driving light" and another with a heavily fluted yellow lens as a fog light. The Japanese SP used the red versions on their VIP escort vehicles, indeed some are still in use today on the older cars.
