It was a Tripp-Lite kinda day.

Ran up on two lights yesterday at two different location and both were Tripp-Lite beacons.

The first is a Tripp=Lite MV2, the Batman light, only in amber. Looks like it should actually be labled MV2M, as it is a throw light with magnet and tang for securing. Needs a good cleaning and the dome needs some polishing. Belt driven and works like it's new. I don't know much about these as far as dating. Do they still use belts?

The next one is a Tripp-Lite MV110, for pole mounting. It did not work when I plugged it in. This model has the same motor like in a Rota-Beam, which unfortunately can not be repaired. But I took it apart anyway and it was actually just a pin missing from the gear box. I fabricated a pin from a small nail, re-assembled the gears and presto. Light works just fine.

Not a bad way to break my dry spell on beacons.

Having an MV-2 myself, I am surprised they weren't used more by vollies for POV response with a mirror on the dash. They are bright!
Perhaps their size, being larger than a Vitalite? I don't know about the cost differential between the Vitalite and MV-2, but that can be a factor.

Looks good. I wonder if you can still get those belts.

Find out where your closest reseller is and go from there ;-)

Any idea on a date for these? 80's or 90's?

Tripp Lite (later becoming Tri Lite) beacons starting in the late 1980s through today had the stick-on badges. Older beacons up until the late 80s had the rivited, metal badges. So somewhere from the mid-60s to the real early late 80s is your beacon. They don't have definitive dates of manufacture, which is kinda a bummer.

That's good enough for me. Thanks !

I have seen some rubber gasket O rings at Ace hardware and at car parts store that look very similar and they come in various sizes. I bet one of those would work if you had to.

The stick-on labels was used at the end of the Tripp-Lite era before they become independent from Trippe and changed name to Tri-Lite in 1987.

I have several Tripp-Lite with stick-on labels.
Exactly when this change from riveted name tags to stick-on labels was, I have not been able to find out yet.

The MV-2 is still in production so spare parts, like belts, should not be any problem.
