Wanted LAPD Aerodynic and related equipment circa 1995

I want to restore an old LAPD Caprice (1995). I'm still on the research phase and could use your help.

I could use the following emergency equipment:

LAPD Aerodynic with mounting equipment.

Correct time period siren/speaker/switches etc


If anyone has any detailed photos of the interior I would appreciate it. I would like to orient the interior correctly with respect to radios, console, shotgun/Ar15. Etc Etc.


Additionally I am also considering a 1995 Houston PD build and I could use a Whelen 9000 with the lopro speaker attached above.

When I was down to california 3 years ago I actualy went to the LAPD Museum and took a load of pictures for that purpose since I had no idea what needed to make a replica . I cant really provide you any part numbers for what has been used but I think you will be served info wise with my pictures

Unitrol was the controler used. Different models were used through the years. I have a (not for sale) Unitrol 480-KR like the one that has been used by the LAPD. The 480-K was used too. The one showed in the pics above, I don't know the model number, but others here will chime in. As for the speaker, since the bar was Federal Signal, I would venture to say the speaker is Federal too...

The radio was usually an in-dash (in place of the factory am/fm radio) Astro Saber Astro Vehicular Adapter commonly known as a Converta-Com.
The AR15 Urban Patrol Rifle did not come into being until after the 1997 North Hollywood B of A shootout.
IIRC correctly the Ithaca 37 had been relegated to Less-Lethal duty stored in the trunk and the Remington 870 patrol shotgun was mounted to the 'cage' (partition) between the front seats.

You can still order aero domes for the time being. I would order them now because you might wait a long time to see another good set.

Project update:

I am now looking for a 1993-1996 Caprice Classic 9C1 with blue interior.

Prefer mileage 150k or less. Solid motor, transmission, etc etc. I'm looking for something well maintained mechanically. I certainly don't expect brand new, but well cared for is what I am looking for. Keep your eyes out guys and gals. Thanks!

The 9C1 was out for repairs. The only one they had was the DARE Impala.

I have purchased a 1995 9C1 and I am awaiting it to be shipped from California. Undoubtably it will require some work and have to be painted.

Update:

Won this Caprice at a California Auction and had it shipped to Texas. So one day this will be an LAPD build. This particular car was used by City of Pasadena, California.

Update: I put the LAPD car on hold and restored the car as a Houston pd car.

I’m still waiting (going on 2 years) for M-Squad to make my LAPD decals. I suspect I have been scammed by him. Do Not Purchase from M-Squad.
