I'm saddened by the red/blue splits and purple rear :ugh:

I'll be sad when I go blind if I ever see this beast in person. Looks great David! Now you gave Whelen an idea to start mounting Dual Pioneer Plus' to their lightbars.

Since Whelen offers a Dual Pioneer from the factory as an option on the 55" bar, and TWO Dual Pioneers on the 72" Freedom, I really didn't invent anything new.... but since we are trying to come up with a name...

I think it should be called the "Paul Revere"... he was a Pioneer in the quest for Freedom!

After a month long set back I finally completed my custon made Whelen Dominator D2 LIN4s series. I think it turned out rather nice, and I don't know why Whelen never made one. Anyways here are the pictures.

I'm in the process of building another Custom Liberty... This one is gonna be for BJ (triton911BJ) for his '04 Durango...

Components are:

- 4 Whelen Extended Corners, Blue

- 4 Whelen LIN-6 Heads, Blue (Front)

- 1 Whelen CON-3 Head, White (Front center, acting as a TD)

- 2 Whelen LR-11 TD Lights (Front)

- 2 Whelen LR-11 Alley Lights

- 2 Whelen TIR-6 Heads, Blue (Rear)

I have a couple of options I'm thinking of for the front: (the open spots will be the LR-11s, just waiting for them to arrive)

Option #1:

ai64.photobucket.com_albums_h191_tritontim47_Lightbar_20Projec67a7159e0f68b5969256ac5f3a176a33.jpg

Option #2:

ai64.photobucket.com_albums_h191_tritontim47_Lightbar_20Projecf84f3020b0dbbe4c79ca7e2dfd06402a.jpg

Option #3:

ai64.photobucket.com_albums_h191_tritontim47_Lightbar_20Projec494d188d2ec279bd44efecdb442c950c.jpg

The rear will be de-populated since you cant see much of the rear of the bar on his Durango anyway...

ai64.photobucket.com_albums_h191_tritontim47_Lightbar_20Projec5c8b585da9e45d4582d77f3f849fc517.jpg

I'll post back with updates... I'm waiting on a I/O board to ship (Thanks GPC!!!) then I can shoot some vids...

I love the lightbar project in the comms center lol

I'd make the center CON3 steady burn blue like on yours. I really like that and think it's super effective.

I'll most likely make him put his Dual Talon on steady once we get the bar on... lol

Made a little more progress with the bar today... I got an LR-11 Alley & TD kit off of eBay for $125 shipped (direct wire add-on for a Justice Bar) so now all the lightheads are in the bar... The alleys were easy to install since the frame I'm building this bar from came with MR-11 Alley lights... I simply inscrewed the MRs and replaced them with the LRs...

ai64.photobucket.com_albums_h191_tritontim47_Lightbar_20Projeca9321b2efef7b464b4638b5148a73453.jpg

The TDs were a little trickier... lol What I did was take the bucket that the MR-11 bulb was housed in and use that... I took out the MR-11 bulb, and the bulb socket which left me with basically a stand... I inverted the LR-11s and mounted them to the top side of the bucket and then just screwed the bucket into one of the channels in the bar...

Now I'm just waiting on an I/O Board (that should be shipping this week), the lens kit I ordered (also "should" be shipping this week) and the White CON-3 (that should be arriving this week)... Then she'll be ready for testing...

Modes 1 and 2 wired up and relayed. I need two more smart vector boards, two nice rear blue filters, and two forward blue filters to finish it. No one has responded to my wanted ad though! gah! :haha:

hey, when you have four pods oscillating that must be a northern CHP pattern or something...never, ever, seen that pattern down here!

I would say it's officers preference.

In my Field Operations Vision manual, it shows mode 1(R AMB) having pods 1/7 rear osc. with 1/8 Signal master flashing, mode 2(F CUTOFF) having 1/2/6/7 rear osc. with signal master cutoff pattern, mode 3 being signal master only, mode 4 (F RED) 1/7 steady burn with 3/5 rear osc. and sm cutoff pattern, mode 5 (F RED+WW) same as mode 4 except that pod 4 oscillates to the front, mode 6(CODE 3) all pods 360 except for steady burn pod 4 and cutoff pattern, mode 7(CODE 3+WW) pods 1/2/6/7 360 while pod 4 is steady burn and 3/5 osc. to the rear with cutoff pattern, mode 8 is mode 6 or 7 without signal master activated.

My bar is going to have modes 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, and 8. I could do a couple more but that would require more relays in the now nonexistant extra space in the bar and more wiring headaches lol

Yeah, just saying......all my life down here and never saw that pattern being used, that's all.

I think the finished product looks great!! Impressive job. I would prefer the con3s in the rear to be amber, and slow single flash, but that's just me. Even if he kept them blue, slow single flash.

Hes got enough amber with it T/A in the back window... And it mostly wont be seen unless you're a good distance away from the vehicle between the slop of the roof and the rake of the vehicle... lol I was thinking about putting amber in it but didn't have any extra ones...

With an all amber TA, they look good blue. I would still slow them down.

I told Boulder that since he built the LiberTitan, now he needs to build a Freedom with double stacked CON3 heads...

Codename: ConDom.

not a pic but a video

these lights came with red on one side, center oscilaser and clear rotator

i took apart some of my other code 3 lights and made it with red on both sides with clear oscilaser in middle, they are black to back so no light shows out from behind

video of just red on

might look better with just amber flashing in front and take red's out and add more td's dunno

Couldn't get a vid, but have a pic of our Rescue and Ex-Engine. Both pieces had Oscilasers in all the bars, 2 front 2 side..

ai619.photobucket.com_albums_tt272_lafd55_DSC_0125copy.jpg

The officer's side dome was later replaced with an all red.

Do they move traffic...? I don't know, with all the lights going and a Q with a siren it doesn't really matter.

the reason for my username is i was into car audio stuff before i got back into emergency lighting as a hobby, so tacoma = the truck i drive, banga = a slang word for it having a loud stereo, and 1986 was the year i was born, i dont know how to change it to just 1 1986, if anyone could help me with that it would be nice

i hope that explained it well enough, best i could

oh, and i guess i was referring to the other guy to see what the lights i had looked like on a rig since one of his had them on it, didn't know hot it was arranged and what knot

Here's a sneak peek on a new build of mine... Nothing overly fancy, just an 8-head Mini Liberty...

*Note* This is NOT the final configuration/assembly of the project... I'm waiting on a proper length frame... Plus I might make it a "Rock Candy" bar and have it all blue/clear lenses...

And yes, this rotating pattern will be one of the 2 pattern sets for this bar... lol

And here's the finished product...

8-Head Custom XL Mini Liberty, Rock Candy Style...

I mounted the ULF-44 and the terminal strip on the inside/underside of the mock ballast/power supply...

ai64.photobucket.com_albums_h191_tritontim47_Lightbar_20Projec31cf484c69491022dfcfb89e2a52c178.jpg

This helped to keep everything a little cleaner...

ai64.photobucket.com_albums_h191_tritontim47_Lightbar_20Projecdf77bad4289aca40c202d729564da9cb.jpg

The top came with 2 extra holes... No big deal, I see what amcullers (the member I bought the frame from) was trying to do with trying to keep the mock ballast centered in the bar, but its not really necessary... I just left the ballast in the "stock" position and used the stock holes... A little liquid nails and she'll be good to go...

ai64.photobucket.com_albums_h191_tritontim47_Lightbar_20Projec25571283381d3e230ad61093550a11da.jpg

Then I put my own little spin on the "Candy Cane" style: "Rock Candy"

ai64.photobucket.com_albums_h191_tritontim47_Lightbar_20Projecbdf1dacf7bd113c5febec3bab06c63b8.jpg

ai64.photobucket.com_albums_h191_tritontim47_Lightbar_20Projec6212b463aad26df9049f82a5aa039b2d.jpg

ai64.photobucket.com_albums_h191_tritontim47_Lightbar_20Projec3ac75ec3abe382ce34ae16242be015fd.jpg

I'll be putting a blue lens in the clear endcap and a clear lens in the blue endcap to complete the "Rock Candy" look... just have to fide the bolts/nuts for the lenses...

And of course, a vid... lol

A few months ago I freshened up the old mx bar on my truck, it got all new domes, upper and lower, as well as a new set of the composite code 3 feet, I wanted to add some leds to the feet and a Whelen LIN3 fit almost perfectly. I would recommend this upgrade to anyone.
