Ok so I am in need of opinions and tech specs on which is brighter/ better bar. The Torrent has inner modules with 6 LEDS and 12 in the corners but im not sure about the liberty. Also any one have videos ?

I'm sure it's a fine lightbar, but I would go with Whelen over axitech... just a personal pref.

Do I have to turn on my bar the next time I see ya? You will be blown away. I am not sure about the Torrent but I am sure the liberty will still win. The only thing is Whelen will have more programmable options than the torrent. My liberty is the Wecan and can have multiple flash patterns

i dont think you can compare, the torrent looks like a knock off Liberty bar and is made in china/tiawan,well you pay for what you get

Five year warranty just the same as Whelen, and while the modules are made overseas, I believe the bars are still put together in the states.

And does that mean we can say the Liberty 2011 looks like a knock off of the Torrent dual color?

I have installed and "programmed" both.

Both are about the same as far as fit and function, the Torrent I installed has been in service for two years with no issues thus far, and the department likes it a lot, especially the dual color rear for the TA.

It's simple.......LED light bars are all plenty bright so its a matter of personal preference and what kind of options you want in it. I have gotten to the point where I like the Code 3 2100E because its bright and simple. I don't need a TA because 90% (or more) of motorist are to stupid to know what it means or to follow it anyways and I don't need 500 different functions when all I really need for patrol is activate rear, front, all bar and my take downs and alleys.

Torrent needs no software to program and can have multiple flash patterns.

Programming makes changing flash patterns easier. Instead of having to change the flash pattern for ever pair of light heads.

And that's like what, 2%-3% of users, that feel the need to change patterns like you change a diaper on a baby?

Most users (95%+) set them and forget them. Only whackers change their flash patterns every other week... :D

95% set and forget cause they have shitty flash patterns and bought a shit bar cause they don't want to spend the money to buy a top of the line bar.

Also the reason why I have the wecan is cause when I get on scene I dont want the bar to be flashing so fast, so I put it on the second setting and it will flash at a slow rate. Cant do that with a regular bar.

Actually you can, all major bars out there that I am aware of including Axixtech have a Mode 2 that does that exact function without the expensive software. Axixtech calls it Priority Warning Mode and Standard Warning Mode, set one to a slow pattern for scene use and one to a faster pattern for in route.

Are you referring to individuals, because I am unaware of any department (police or fire) that changes patterns for either standard or priority (Axixtech setting, but other major brands have the ability as well) after they have been set. And it's not because they buy bars with shitty flash patterns (unless you consider the Liberty to have shitty plash patterns as MPD in DC sets the patterns and then gives the officers no say over them after that).

Now, if you are talking about changing from a hyper flash type pattern while you respond and then flip a switch to go to a slower flash pattern, as mentioned all major bars can do this, and some have the ability to do it for three different settings (i.e. pos 1, pos 2, pos 3 on a slide switch). Code3 2700 comes to mind as one and i believe the non Wecan Liberty can do the same as well. Just a matter of applying power to the correct wires for the needed flash setting.

Programmable modes...each mode has ability to have different patterns set. SOS bars have two modes. FedSig ROC bars have three modes. Star/SVP bars have multiple modes. Rontan has multiple modes. Whelen, depends on bar and programing, but typically two modes in LED, but strobe bars had three, IIRC. Code3 have two or three, can't recall.

Basically, this allows for multiple, selectable flash patterns to be available depending on needs. Example, mode 1 on my car is slow end-cap only alternating flash. Mode 2 is all blue LEDs spun up in faster patterns (each set individually for random flash look in front, and synched in rear for an alternating look). Mode three adds td/alley flashers.
