As the gofundme page explains, Dixie Blackburn is a former Paramedic and supervisor for Lincoln and Gaston Counties, North Carolina. Most recently, she was a supervisor of Lincoln County TLC, which is a community transportation program for disabled community members and low income community members. Dixie has dedicated her life to helping others, and now her family is asking for help covering her impending medical bills. Dixie was given only a few days to live after an unsuccessful surgery on April 7, 2015. She has been moved into a hospice house to help keep her comfortable.
