Here's the pic; it's part of the Conservation Officer Academy, which is held at MSP's academy. This was probably classroom portion on traffic stops.

This is the storage shed in Lansing where they store the "show cars" or "historical units". You can see the front end of the Ford Mustang in the back of the recruits, the new black Charger (Anniversary edition with bubble and gold striping on the hood) and the car you are referencing is the Ford Crown Vic - complete as it was for that year with a Unity light (without Spitfire dome) on top. This is the latest historical vehicle they refurbished.

Early 90's Saginaw Township Police. I took these circa '92? The unmarked was a traffic car - slick top, no markings except for the passenger door. S&W Pancake light in the dash with a red spot.

The entire fleet at that time used basic Streethawk (red/blue flashers to front, red/amber to rear) Unity Par 36 red/blue beams on the rear deck, and head and tail light flashers. Very simple, and very effective. I miss those days.

I see one last straggler TwinSonic in the first picture. Center-right.

Yes, very good eye!! That was the "Golf-side" car. We have a community that is on the edge of a golf course, and they have an association that pays for their own contract police officer.

It was mounted on a white, 4 door Pontiac 6000, if I remember correctly.

There is one you did miss though! They also had a Gray Chevy Caprice with a green Streethawk. If you look WAY WAY back against the other building you can see it backed in. This was used for park patrol.

The other vehicle that isn't in the picture was a Ford Tempo with Amber Streethawk for parking enforcement.

A gathering of K9 teams from numerous suburban Detroit agencies (mid to late 90s?). I think I see Ferndale (white Crown Vic), Troy (blue Crown Vic) and Southfield (the matching pair of Caprices). I can’t ID the truck or the far-right Caprice (maybe West Bloomfield Township?).

Great pics. I love seeing the changes over the years. My favorite is the car with the all blue twinsonic lightbar.

If you're referring to the Northland Diplomat, that Twinsonic is Green.

we are supposed to pull over for green lights?

Not between 1990-2008, hence the red and blue lights. Before that, yes. Not doing so resulted in a chase and an arrest for fleeing and eluding in addition to any other charges.

Anyone know what happened to all of the great pictures that were here? Most have just become generic thumbnails that don't link to or open anything. : /

Should we reboot the Michigan Law Enforcement Thread?

Oakland County Sheriff now sporting throwback graphics for their bicentennial. Similar to Macomb County's. I would love to see them make this permanent. On a side note I had the honor of helping them with these graphics. But the sheriff himself wanted an opposite color scheme from what they had in the old days as they are still buying all-black vehicles.

The deputy that I worked with on this designed their bicentennial badge00 Tahoe 1 Calibri.jpgthumbnail_IMG_9341.jpgOCSO Shield FLAT.jpg119935943_3666704246697239_2592600472311708119_n4.jpg117666713_3153706588039948_7569452605095836143_n1.jpg119953987_3666704196697244_1042175248974195266_n2.jpg119890335_3666704226697241_6439823322602480819_n3.jpgthumbnail_IMG_0203.jpg. We were able to render a graphic of that for the vehicles as well. That's seen on the back of the cars.

Please tell me they still have the iconic red lenses on their red LEDs on their push bumpers??? Those are part of their history. Very nice clean look. Is thus a temporary run? Or current?

They do still run all-red, forward-facing lights on the push-bumpers. Not sure if this throwback graphics scheme is temporary or not. They were brought in with the intention of celebrating the agency's bicentennial. But the public response to this look is been tremendous. Maybe they'll keep these longer term. I'd love to see that happen.
