Here's a picture comparison to show the differences in the current vs old design...

There's also the Model 14s that have part of the aluminum rotator holders cut on the sides to reduce weight. Tried finding a pic but this video is the best I can come up with:

In addition to the chrome ringed design, there's the economy version, the series B and C Model 14 beacons...

That video isn't accurate - the Model 11 only had one motor and the rotators were connected by a chain so they would rotate synchronously in a left-right alternating pattern. That video shows two separate beacons, each with their own motor and a slightly different flash rate, on a crossbar that's too short.

...And now I see that it wasn't supposed to be a video of the Model 11 anyway... never mind.

If that guy was able to thread a chain through that small of a bar, I'd buy him a case of beer, Nerdly_dood :haha: ;) .

Those Model 14s with the side-cut rotator assemblies were A3 series I believe? Well, now that I think about it, all the later models of the TwinSonic, the new AeroTwinsonic, 184 beacon, and model 14 beacons had this weight reduction done to them since they shared the same par36 assemblies. Duh for me:drooling:.

Here's a good example of this in Ryan's collection (photo credited to him):
