Motor speeds and version question

I have been curious as to the variations of motors C3 uses in stand alone rotators. I have torn down so many MX7000 bars that I can not keep track of the different motors.

IIRC, the black and white gears have a different shaft size. The black (more coarse gear) are newer but is it the gear or RPM that determine speed? Some of the motors ground to the body with a welded wire on the outside, others I have seen have the ground terminal post but no obvious external ground connection.

Is there a way to tell a motors speed by looking at it?

Any info you wish to share would be great. Anything from your observations to fully geeking out w specs... thanks.
