Motorolamaniac's Museum is now open! Collection pics inside...

This setup has been dubbed "The Museum" by friends and family. Over the last 5 years or so I have accumulated this collection of lights and in many cases was blessed by the NOS gods in the last year or so.

I have gotten to the point where space became a factor and I wanted to display the beacons as well as the full-sized lightbars. I did some shelving on the one wall using brackets and some pre-finished Sauder shelving boards sold at Lowes, to come up with my new Beacon/Public Safety display wall. This plan was in to works for over a year til I could figure on the most economical, but quality display materials. There will always be tweaking and some of the 60's retro needs to be updated in the cellar itself but this is my man cave.

I wanted to include my collection, or part, of my Vintage Motorola portable radios, many surplus NOS or resotred with NOS parts, on the display as well. I hope you enjoy, let me know what you think.

I noticed that you and I have a couple of lightbars in common, Motorolamaniac: A clear-lensed 12X TwinSonic and a clear-lensed 24R(Q) AeroTwinSonic :D

So nice to know I am not the only one out there who is insane . . LOVE IT ! !

HAHA! Yeah those who see it are sometimes suprised at the sheer variety and types that were/are available. Some can't believe that there are others who collect this stuff too! Pretty much everyone thinks its neat. Then again I have one friend who doesn't collect anything and can't understand why I do, or why anyone would. And I collect a little of everything--you should see my garage: Man Cave II.

These pictures don't even do it justice. It's something you HAVE to see in person! He should probably expand and start selling admission!

WOW!!! That is a most impressive collection!!!!! I also love your collection of old Motorola portables. Years ago when my dad worked a cop he'd come home for lunch with one of those big silver jobs. Funny thing was we were talking about them not that long ago, he said they were pretty high tech for the time and uh made a nice attention getter if need be. It's definitely nothing like my issued XTS 1500 today..

Those MX portables would do some major damage. Just the weight and sheer solid build makes it a great makeshift defensive weapon!

Real-world, personal experience confirms the above! The assailants were easy to ID: they had "alorotoM" tatooed their foreheads. Best radios our department ever had.

Hey man, good to see you! Give me a shout, I still have a couple lenses I owe you and for this fire alarm as well down below. I need to hook up with Guy M to complete a trade, let me know if you want me to run up the highway after I see him.
