Good evening everyone,

I have a MX7000 lightbar that I modified with four Amber Code 3 LED modules. I am have so far been successful in wiring the main lights (non arrowstik) to the SW300 controller but I cannot for the life of me figure out the purpose for the unmarked red wire (not the thick power one) I try to connect to other terminals within the lightbar but nothing illuminates. I am kind of stumped, does anyone have an idea what this red wire is for?

Thank you in advance!

i would assume the small red power cable is for the internal lights, of course the thin black wire also has to be grounded for the lights to work. If that for some reason isn't working the internal light must be out or the red or black wire isn't connected somewhere inside.

your best bet is to probably open the switch box up and investigate further.

Understood, I tested every other colored wire and they all seem to be working fine. All switches illuminate when power is present. I'm wondering if maybe the 40A fuse is shot.

I don't have access to an SW300 currently, but I just checked an SW400 to confirm my suspicion: the smallest red wire is for illuminating the legends.

Its more likely that the bulb inside is burnt out, try to open it up and inspect the bulb inside, that red wire usually goes straight to the bulb.

The red wire is the positive lead for the legend backlight. The black wire is the negative lead for the legend backlight. You must connect the black wire to the battery's negative post, or to a good chassis ground. You must connect the red wire to the battery's positive post, or to a switched source of +12v DC.

And this is opposite from the bigger red wire correct?

Okay, so after some investigating. I have come to the conclusion that I think this green bulb is dead. I tried putting the red wire to the (pos terminal) and vice versa with the black to (neg terminal) and it will not illuminate.20250130_214120.jpg
