Hello there again,

This time i have a Brand New Federal Signal Aerotwinsonic model 24X. This was another lightbar i got from U-MAN. It was originally outfitted with blue domes, but since i didn't have a clear/clear Aerodynic yet, i went with NEW clear domes and colored bulbs. The only other thing i did was get the speaker grilles and mounting feet mirror polished.

I love that NOS rainbow colored mirror brackets. Thing about aeros are they are mostly sealed from dust, unlike the twinsonic series.

The more bars your going to see from Eric, you will want to see videos but he doesn't touch them after restoring.

What's the point of restoring if you're not going to USE them? They're made to light up for a reason.

Aero series bars are great for display because you can still get new domes for them... this is another great example of an aero that may be nicer than any I ever saw in service.

Wow, your collection should be in the Smithsonian.

I swear, I have a very nice 24RQ with NOS clear domes and yours still looks so much better with the polished stainless. I can't wait to see what else comes up with all new

domes.

VERY NICE bar! Those all-clear ones must be pretty rare.

I have one on my 1984 pumpr that was original equipment.

Been looking for a spare set of all-clear lenses. You say I can

get these new from the manufacturer?

I did reverse the reflectors to double the light output to the

front as this bar is on the roof of the pumper and is blocked

by higher parts of the unit to the rear.

The bar is as seen from the rear looking forward.

I really like the output of the clear lenses! I use one-each red

and clear bulbs in each rotator. This is the way that the VFD

that owned it also configured it.

First of all, I'd love to see the whole vintage engine... I always cringe when I see a twinsonic or aerotwin wth X mirrors converted to front only. Mostly because I have trouble finding new brackets to put them back...

I didn't alter a single thing on my Aero. I merely swapped the lower reverse

mirrors and lined up and "doubled" the brackets. The holes all lined up just

perfect. Took less than 5 minutes. Took longer to get up there and remove

the lenses than it took to swap the mirrors around. Can be reversed easily.

As I mentioned before, the rear of the bar is pretty much obscured by higher

parts of the apparatus to the rear, plus it has rear strobes to protect the back.

The swap enabled me to double the light output to the front where it is needed

most without adding extra lamps or replacing the original bar. I want to keep

this engine as original as possible.

We did this swap also on a TwinSonic bar "back in the day" on an apparatus

that my VFD had. Same way. No "butchery" , just swapping two mirror sets

around to make complete mirror panels facing the same way.

Oh. And here is another view of the complete engine. (Owned by me.)

Very nice.... I love a good ford C series fire engine!

What I meant was... when the mirrors are swapped like that the stand off brackets are often lost, making them hard to restore... which is why I cringe.
