My former BIA car, skinned once again into the BIA for the television show, Longmire. Sporting a Tomar Lightbar, Whelen Vertex Hide Aways and a Code 3 Narrowstick Wingman. It's very much a kitbash of brands that are used for picture police cars. The bars generally are the property of the prop masters who have amassed a huge collection over the years and shows where the brand is the last thing they care about.

I love longmire too. Sadly this will be the last season. Netflix won't be renewing after this upcoming season. I love the 94 Bronco that Walt drives with the little dashmaster or whatever he uses, and the Dodge Ram truck as well as the Charger.

Yeah we just wrapped filming the series last week. It was very emotional and bittersweet. The bronco used an Xprite dashbox. Vic's Ram used six Gen-1 Sho-M Dash Units and the Charger had two of the same plus a Code 3 Supervisor flex that was placed on the rear dash.

Yup. The original housing was destroyed in a stunt scene and the LEDs were salvaged and rebuilt into the bar you see.
This is the thing I have a hard time with when watching some movies or shows...seeing the senseless violence perpetrated against defenseless vintage beacons and lightbars all for the questionable benefit of some gratuitous crash scene.

Yeah I can't tell you how many police cars, not just lightbars, are destroyed each year in films.

That's why vintage Chevy Caprice cop cars are really hard to find now. The Crown Victoria is heading in that direction as well. While it's active fleet days are nearing their end, they will be continued to be used in film for the foreseeable future until they are all destroyed.

It would only take a couple more Blues Brothers movies to finish off the rest of the surplus. Hell, they'd probably have to start tapping into the Charger fleet too.
