My Small Collection Updated 9-21!

This is my small (but growing) collection. Some of these lights I have had time to clean up, others I have not. I eventually want to have them all hooked up for display purposes, and am working towards that. My big problem right now is time, and my lack of it.

That's a cool shadow box for working beacons, dude! I'm surprised how fast both the Visilite and Command-O-Lert beacons rotate. Looks good nonetheless!

Thanks. I am assuming the people that had the house before me had a tv or speakers or something up there. Works just fine for beacons too!

I got my Model 11 mounted on the wall today and hooked up (finally). i also included pictures of my switch box and power supply setup. It is located in a closet in my garage so it is out of the way and hidden when the doors are shut. The top switch box operates all my individual beacons. The bottom box is going to operate my lightbars as I slowly get them up and running.

I didn't see a siren...shouldn't that Twin have a siren hooked up to the speaker? You need some noise in the room....looks good though!

I fully intend to have my sirens hooked up and operation. Right now I am trying to find a resistor or some other means of dumbing down the watts actually coming out of the speaker so that my wife does not pull it all out and throw it in the back yard. I am also trying to decide if I want to get some type of selector switch and run all the sirens through one speaker vie a selector switch, or if I want each siren to have its own dedicated speaker. If any one has any input on that or ideas about how to do it please let me know.

Finally got around to hooking up my few "vintage" sirens today. From left to right Federal PA15A Director E Series, North American Siren Master, Federal PA20A Interceptor C Series.

The Director is running through the speaker on my Visibeam, the Siren Master is running through a NOS BP100, and the Interceptor is running through a regular Whelen speaker. I used some resistors (THANKS SHUES) so that you can stand in front of the sirens without having to hold your ears. I will try to get a video sometime in the next few days. My wife is still not enthusiastic about the sirens even if they are softer.

Where I live, the city police used PA15A series 1Es from about 1974 on up to the early 1990s. The local ambulance services had them in their vans from about 1973 on up to the early 1980s.


The city fire department had a few trucks with Siren Masters in them during the 1980s and 1990s.


The PA20A series 2C is a late 1960s model with the low-pitched wail and yelp tones. I remember the city fire department having three pumpers with this type of siren and the Federal CJ184 speaker/light. The trucks were purchased in 1970 and I remember seeing them when they were new. The police and ambulance services also used the low-pitched late 1960s Federals in their vehicles during the early 1970s.


I don't have an E series PA15A, but I do have a PA20A series 2C. I'd like to get a Siren Master, but I want the Canadian version that was sold under the Dominion Auto brand name.

I agree, although I do kind of like the "riot" tone on the Siren Master, It is unique.

One word regarding the speakers: in my opinion the PA20A 2C would sound better with the CP25 speaker on the Twin Beacon Ray bar. The PA15A 1E would sound okay with the little black speaker.
