Hi, i recently purchased a Vision lightbar to go along with my vector. I need help identifying if all the pods are smart or not. I know that fully controlable smart pod have the lightbulbs the hang down from the top on a bracket. My vision has 2 of those. The rest of the pods look to have the regular style of rotators as the lightbulbs come from the botto. However the are different from the vector rotators because the motors are slightly different and run to small computer chips at the back of the domes and then head into the body of the lightbar. My question is do i only have 2 smart pods and the rest are dumb rotators. Or are the rest of the pods still semi smart pods? The clear pods i know for sure are smart it is the amber pods i am curious about. Thank you in advance!

A search on Federal Signal's site of "V7PSS-SM" brings up to manuals for a Premium Vision light bar controller, but I personally haven't seen a Vision like your pictures. Have you taken the triangle shaped cover off to see what kind of boards are inside? Usually a Vector is regular motors. A smart-vector has two smart pods and the Vision has all 7 smart pods. Usually Visions have the stepper style motors, not the motors with the tooth gears. It might not hurt also to email Federal Signal and ask them? I'll do some more digging myself, I'm curious.

Just making an educated guess here. Although I have never seen that exact style rotator, they appear to be code 3 rotators put in that bar. If that's the case then they're just standard rotators.

I can't see all the detail needed from the pictures but it looks like they just left the sensor for the smart rotator and replaced with a different brand rotator.

I think it was a Vision in the beginning then someone did a "custom" job on it for some reason. I think Jennifer Rose Towing is correct, it looks like Code 3 rotators (or some other rotator) screwed down in position. (Not how Visions are made at all.) In the Visions, all 7 pods, have the stepper motors, not the gear type motors. If it has the 3 circuit boards you could make it a Vision again if you get the Vision pods with stepper motors and "home sensors" that go in the rear of the pods and a brain box/controller.

Sorry I'm blabbing so much, but my guess is someone couldn't get a Vision programmed or maybe parts on the Vision went bad so they 'converted' it to how it is now so it was usable. Here's the Vision "smart" pod and stepper motor visible, too (underneath the metal frame and no tooth gears). All 7 pods needs to be like this for a Vision.

That vision was retrofitted by a movie police car company in Toronto, I recognize it. It didn't have to be pretty, it just had to look kind OK in the background.
