One more vehicle that would totally work for the AF, but due to observed GSA regulations, one it will never see.

It looks like ford might let upfitters add wig-wags and that will make somebody happy.

Saw a new explorer here at the Auto Show in St. Louis and I will say I like the looks of the new ones. And yes, they have the standard high beams so Wig-Wags will be possible I would assume.

Don't be so sure of that. The 2006 to 2009(?) models had standard halogen headlights but the computer wouldn't cooperate with HLFs

It all depends of the explorer. I've installed several HLFs in 07 and 08 explorers specifically and had no issues and the computers didn't need to be re-flashed.

How much clearance will the Utility version have? The civ version looks like it sits fairly low.

Hate to say it but the utilities are starting to grow on me. Now if they would make a 4wd ssv I would be happy.

There was recently an article in the Detroit News indicating the possibility that sedans are by and large on their way out in all markets. The price-points are just too close to crossovers and SUVs for people not to buy the vehicles with more room and flexibility.

Front end of the utility reminds me of a VW SUV. Not sure how I feel about it. Really liked the old set up personally

I like the changes and now maybe everyone will shut up about the wig-wag headlights on these utilities. Then dodge has gone the other way and no more wig-wag headlights.

Looks great! I never developed a taste for the last Explorers. Mostly due to the front. This 2016 is such a good improvement! I think the wrap around taillights are begging for LED HAWs on the side.

Good front blink porn...

The sales numbers I saw for last year showed that SUV's ford and gm last year made up 48% of the police market and early order numbers suggest those number will be higher this year for both. I like the changes to the utilities.

3 different threads on the 2016 Explorer! Is this a new ELB record?

I really like the integrated ions for a larger footprint in intersection warning, & I'm sure Whelen is having a field day with the "ready for the road" package$ featuring even more of their product$. I also like how the grill lights can now be positioned in the upper portion of the grill (a lot more effective IMHO than lower grill). Anybody know the complete equipment list on the new RFTR packages?

Personally, however I still prefer the body-on-frame Tahoe and the V8 CVPI over the NGPI & NGPI Utility

I am also  starting to really like this revision. I found another video of the new Interceptor Utility. It looks like the white front "hide-a-aways" are Whelen Microns (seen around the 34 second mark), and not a traditional Vertex style.

The look is growing on me.  In the video I don't think I like all the lights,  They should have went with STL.  j/k.  I am going to the auto show today.  I wonder If there will be one there.

Stud mount microns in the grill, Ions in head lights.    The stud mount microns wont be available from whelen for another month or 2 but the headlights do come with an opening to mount a normal ion.  just remember ford has fooled me a few times.   just because the wires are there does not mean there connected to any thing on the other side.  ill post some pics of the 200 of them that ill be building in the next month or 2
