New Australian outback (NSW) BMW highway patrol car.

The New South Wales, Australia, Police recently decided to replace their familiar V8 and turbo 6 Falcon and Commodores with, BMWs.
This photo appeared on my FB feed today.
Not exactly sure where it was, other than middle of nowhere.

So this is a regular patrol car and not a show car? In the US, Georgia State Patrol had some BMW cars for the 1996 Olympics but they seem to have been just to show off more than anything.

edit: My Google-Fu tells me that they were donated by BMW and used for the torch run.
