Got this off eBay recently and picked up in Brooklyn. standard nypd setup with 2 slow outer rotators,2 hi-speed inners with red filters, front meteor light, alleys and front and rear flashers. Previous owner acquired from NYC surplus auction on kent ave 15 plus years ago. It doesn't have nypd after the model number on the model label like erics bar does so all i can think that is was a early version made before federal started stamping nypd on the labels. Motors are stamped 12-96- some 1997 so i put this as a 1997 model bar.

Very nice, I saw that one! Federal wasn't always consistent with their newer labeling. May have been another production run. Get new domes for your bar while you still can!

Very nice bar. I already made a NYPD streethawk with the same config and was confused about the label from Eric´s Streethawk. Good to know that both versions are available.

I don't think the bar on my RMP had the meteor i think it had a standard speed center rotator, I wish I could remember for sure.

Over the years I cant say i've seen any with center rotators. Any of the ones i still see in service on esu vans or school safety have the meteor light.

I would say good chance that was a van mounted unit blank lower mids blocked by rear mounted mini jet. The barrier unit rack trucks have the 4 rear flashers. If you can see thru the tape and bungee cords..

They threw these things on nearly anything aside from the regular sedan RMP's. But I do agree that this was probably on a van due to the blacked out rear lights.

Since the arrival of the Vision bars in '92 on the MY '91 Caprices until only recently all marked non-sedan vehicles had a progression of different lightbars mounted on them, I would estimate every 5 years we changed to a different platform before standardizing fleet-wide on the Vision; Jetstreams, Streethawks, Vistas. I think that covers everything.

That is correct. I've seen the odd MX7000 on some of the older sprinters as well. And we also went through a good 2-3 different variations of most of the bars you mentioned, especially the Vistas. I believe some SUV's just prior to the switch to Vision/SLR also had 1 or 2 Argents slapped onto their roofs as well.

My Family is in the body shop business so id figure i try and spruce up the lenses while i'm waiting on new ones. I dry sanded with a 6inch da air sander with 800,1500 and 2000 grit then used automotive rubbing compound, machine polish and a spray wax.

Wow! Fantastic job! I think you're going to be disappointed with the new ones. ;)
