This is one.. Beacon Ray, model 17, with an amber Unity flashing light. Say what? Yep, amber, true enough. A couple of things, it does not have a 2P "serial number" and the skirt is not a CA Beacon Ray skirt as it is shorter than it should be. So what is it. My only guess is that this is a shop made fabrication, and the Unity flashing amber was mounted to face to the rear of whatever vehicle it was mounted on, and the CA mandatory steady red light was another light not known or shown. This light came from So. Cal., and from the serial number, appears at first to be 12 volt, 67-6, perm mount, from March of 69 though I may have that not quite correct. It does run and flash but is so noisy and squeaky I can't share a video until it gets some attention.

You seem to have a newer larger vintage base, and a smaller vintage dome. The 2R would tell you newer larger version. Could be shop made as you say. The model number doesn't tell us any different.

March 1969 Serial number. We never have figured out what the P stands for or any of the other numbers following the year. I would imagine someone copied the California idea. The flasher indicates outside of California or a later modification.

Maybe they had the flashing amber facing backwards. Then the had a separate front facing Par 46 in red. I thought someone had a model 17 with 2 par 46s on the skirt. Front and rear?

I think that was what I tried to write but not as well as you.. Yes here some samples what you wrote about with multiple par 46 lights..Both front and rear and equally also side to side..
