Here's mine...I fabricated it from an aluminum sign blank and designed it for my 2002 Ford Explorer. I could have used a havis console but didn't want to loose the ash tray and lighter. Also, it doesn't block the other factory controls.

curious where did you get the plastic cupholder that you inserted in that last pic?

Looks like a Walmart special. I had a similar one for my BPD car, but it was black.

I love console pics since it's what I see most on my car throughout the day. How do you like the F150?

If anyone is isnterested, I will have a few of those consoles (used) for sale by the end of January. Actually they are Jotto Desk versions, but look and install just like the Havis.

we are such NERDS wanting to see other peoples consoles and equipment layouts.. ;)

As for the F150? LOVE it, ECO BOOST V-6, im averaging about 350mi to 22 gals of fuel, the 07 this one replaced was a 4.6 V8 and would only get 172 mi on 22gal..

This year they gave me a choice, explorer or F150.. for what i do i need a pick up, so i asked for a GMC, and my new F150 extra cab arrived (this vehicle is assigned to me, and is a take home vehicle) At our agency we have a 30.00 usage fee taken out of our pay each month for the take home option, so the tax payers are not paying for it.. ;)

Can't drive it off duty, but is nice to be able to leave the driveway and be 1008..

Custom designed for a Toyota Tacoma 2011 double cab. Original rails from a havis console. Re cut all my own plates out of 1/8" aluminum.

Kenwood TM D700 amateur radio

Yeasu FTM-350 amateur radio

Whelen HHS-2200 controller

The holes are for accessory outlets or switches, haven't decided yet.

I do not feel so bad for my Expedition now. I get about 290-330 miles on about 20 gal of gas. And I have a 2005 5.4L, V8.

All MDF construction of the base, laser cut metal faceplates. I still have the "in progress" pictues of the build for that.

I would be very interested to know how that console with the 120v plugs was done. That seems like it would be much easier than trying to use a loose inverter.

Show-Me siren inside console, Motorola M1225 radio, Extreme Tactical Dynamics digital light control, Uniden scanner. Light control is temporarily attached with velcro, until it warms up enough to figure out a good mounting location.

Though I am not the poster, we had a similar set up 110 outlet in our Watch Commander (Flight Chief's) Tahoe in California. The installer mounted the inverter in the rear cargo area plugged a heavy duty 110v extension cord into the outlet and then ran the wires up to the front, cut off the female end of the plug and used the wires to connect to the back of outlet. It worked out fairly slick. The inverters were controlled by a separate switch up front so they weren't on all the time IIRC.

The outlet extension was straightforward. It involves using a simple extension cord BUT requires 14g simply because you want to carry the rating equally to the new outlet. The new outlet do require a box as if you're doing new construction. The wire ends are terminated with ring terminals and installed. (You back out the screws out completely past the stop & reinstall)

Depending on the power supply, some have a remote extension to turn on & off the unit. Sometimes I had to rewire by hacking the switch and extending it for smaller units. Do mind the ventilation while keeping it protected from stuff, guard & clearly mark the extension cable, and most importantly supply adequate DC power to the unit as they easily command large cables 4g is often the minimum. Don't attempt to cheat here as if there isn't enough juice going to it, you're gonna experience "brown outs" and potentially damage your 120vac equipment.
