But it appears to be both standing on its own and of some metallic construction, so a base surely has to be there.
We're getting really nit-picky and overanalyzing this. There's a bulb in it, so it's a light, just as advertised. The other three round slots are for aerodynamics, ventilation and maybe bulb placement customization.
I found a manual for this exact light on ebay. It was a rare handwritten first draft on lined paper and it sold for a very fair $100. It was even autographed by its designer, Fred Signal.
Agree. It's a ludicrous price considering we'll, everything. Condition isn't great and it's an LP6000. I have a bit of a soft spot for them, but they're nothing special. This guy charges ridiculous prices for his stuff. I think that he had or has a Heliobe for oh jeez...some stupid price.
If it's the seller I think it is, a lot of his listings mention security and use as movie props. He could care less about collectors. What he was asking for Excaliburs and MXs was INSANE.

I went to click on this link to see what it was about.. and I was like oh yeah.. that guy.
Never a good reaction to have. I read the posts in the thread, specifically yours and wow. The guy doesn't just gouge buyers, he rips a trench in them.
In my case, it was summed up as he tried to change the deal after we agreed upon a price. Then tried to pass it off as ebay.. so I walked away.

Here are some Excaliburs plus a mini Excalibur. Of course a couple are from lightbarguy. On the plus side, the one that has no domes actually comes with the original domes!

Which is a reasonable offer to anyone except lightbarguy. @Stampeed Valkyrie can attest to that seller's crappiness extending beyond his awful prices.
It's the mini RX whose price converts to $620.37 USD that slays me. That'd be a ludicrous price for a full sized one, let alone a mini.
The guy is either high on drugs all the time or isn't taking his proper mental medication. The prices just are so outrageous to even fathom to list at the amounts he is listing for.
My guess that he's high as hell and also not taking his meds. Same for anyone who buys from him.

I'd say that this fella's being a bit ambitious. The comments in the photo are his. At least he's honest, I'll give him that. He tells you how the bar's screwed up before he gouges you and lets you know that the bar was flashing. Well golly gee! The word 'plastic' seems to befuddle him a bit, but we all can get what he's getting at: the bar's jacked.

I've seen the same SVP 1166, 1168 and 1185 dash lights that have been listed for sale on Ebay for going on THREE YEARS now because their price is so extortionately outrageous. They're literally going on their 3rd year on Ebay and I can only guess the seller is waiting for that one stupid person who will come along and buy one of them. When I post a listing on Ebay I price it at a fair amount to SELL. I just don't get these people though...
These two are cute. The first is on FB Marketplace and converts to $1,174 USD. It's been for sale for over a year. He's recently added some new photos! The second is par for the course for the Bay. Maybe it's a good price, I dunno. It just seems steep to me.
