It seems PSP is finally switching back to Federal Signal after having gone with Whelen for about 15 years or so. Back in the early 1990's they switched from Whelen to Federal Signal with the Vision Bar and Smart Siren, and now we've come full circle. The new units are going to be uplifted with a Valor Bar and Pathfinder Siren with Rumbler Amp.

I know the Col. shown in the video. Looks like all the marked units will have push bumpers/brush guards, I guess deer collisions started to cost too much with all those expensive factory OEM headlight assemblies. I know some people like the auto-cycle through all the patterns, but in pursuit mode I'm really not a fan of having the whole roof bar lit up and just twinkling. Headlight flashers are very distinctive from a distance, I think having alternate sides flashing on the roof bar is much more noticeable from a distance also. But, they didn't ask me and nobody but a light geek would care anyway.

Quite a few of the new cars that were delivered last year simply had an old Liberty removed from whatever car it replaced. So you've got a brand new cruiser with a 10 year old light bar with lenses that look like dog crap and nothing was synced. I'm just glad to see them putting some real thought behind the cars. The Valor bar is a nice nod to the Vision bar that PSP was famous for. I'm sure we were all hoping the would go with a Vision SLR.

Given the NYPD has been testing the Valor on their Highway Patrol units, I'm not sure how long the Vision has left if they decide to switch entirely to it. Hopefully they keep it going.
