A tractor-trailer rear-ended an unmarked police car early Thursday, killing a Waldwick officer, the second New Jersey officer to die in the line of duty this week.
Officer Christopher Goodell, 32, was operating radar to check for speeders on Route 17 at about 1:30 a.m. when a truck went onto the shoulder of the road and struck the parked police car at the Bergen Avenue intersection, Bergen County Prosecutor John Molinelli said. The truck pushed the car into a retaining wall.
