Portable Scene Lighting

In the past we used the Honda EU1000 generators with 500w lightheads on them (http://www.tele-lite.com/viewProducts.asp?prodID=51) for lighting up around the scene. Recently we had one stolen (I know it sucks) so now we are wondering if there is a better option for portable lighting. Some fire investigators don't want the gas engines around b/c it can contaminate a scene. I know a neighboring dept has these Streamlight HID (http://www.streamlight.com/product/product.aspx?pid=128) which we want to compare against the Honda setup.

Any opinions or suggestions?

Thanks,

Al

We have customers in the Detroit Metro area who are using single pioneer plus lightheads on Havis tripods with either Optima batteries running them, or they run a 2 circuit extension cord from the truck to the light (depending on how close they can get their truck).

We switched to Pelican 9430 systems LED for additional and Remote scene lighting

8 hours hi power/14 hrs lo power

Priced between $550 -$800 and a backpack option helps for really remote needs. No noisy generator noise and can be carried by one person.

Optional tripod to raise height of LED head available also.

I have a demo unit in my car for last 2 weeks and sold 40 units on doing hands on demos and loaning it out at an accident reconstruction locally

impressed a few folks.
