It is a Unity 4-Way Flasher. The bar came from Leon Valley TX PD. I am not sure what they were thinking when they built it, the side flashers on the center light really don't do much given that they shine right at the Dual Faced Unity Flashers AND the RV16 rotators..... :weird: BUT.... it did do service THAT way, so THAT way it stayed!

I had heard from others and from you that you had lots of nice stuff, you werent kidding! Wow! I cant wait to see the rest!

Oh! Don't you know it! I have more crossbars to post pics of still..... they are my FAVORITE

Dave,

Very impressive and I recall (from maybe the old site) that you were considering exiting the hobby, or at minimum significantly paring down the collection?! Obviously you're still in it, but did you purge some of the former treasure?

Always great to see your restorations.

Well, I'm sure some people on here (including me) would offer you some storage space for free. ;) :D

In my case I'd also pay the shipping. :D :D

Superb collection. Jealous of all that NOS stuff :drooling:

Would you be interested in selling either of those CC1s? Need amp/wiring for my mustang and need more for other CHP projects.

Are you the same guy who bought that white 85 CHp Mustang from Chris on the SSP forum?

there been some yack here locally about doing a whelen museum. or a special run at one of local museums here in ct.

Beautiful collection!!

I'd be curious though to see the pedigree on the Mass State Police Sireno setup. I've been studying the MSP, it's vehicles and emergency equipment for over 35 years and have yet to personally see, hear of or view pictures of such a setup. Was it perhaps an experimental bar? Perhaps on the Turnpike?

The reason I ask is that other than some early 70's experiements with Whelen 3302 setups (on some '73 Chevy Wagons, some normal Troop cruisers and cars assigned to specialty Troops like the Mass Turnpike and Logan Airport), regular Troop cruisers from the early '60's until the late '70's relied on single beacons (occassionally flanked by "lollipop" flashers, especially on station wagons) from Federal Signal. Initially they used Model 17 Beacon Rays, then upgraded to CJ184 PA Lights. They moved on from there to Aerodynics, then Whelen Edge strobe bars (1986), FS JetStrobes (1996), FS Vista bars (1997), a brief flirtation with Code 3 bars (2003), and now Whelen LED bars (starting around 2005). MSP has historically been faithful (with a few exceptions) to FS and Whelen. This Sireno setup is a first for me, and I'd love to know more about it!

I cannot answer that. All I know is that I was told it was an MSP bar from the dealer I got it from in Mass. It is possible that it was destined for a local Mass agency back in the day? He had 2 of the Sireno bars when I got this one.

Yes, I am the owner of "Ruby", the 86 CHP car you speak of from the SSP forum.

1 of the CC1s is going into that car. The other stays on the shelf. Sorry! I cannot let either of them go! :ugh:

BTW... got an extra Whip antenna? I am looking for one of those for the quarter panel!

Not gonna lie, that's a pretty sweet shirt.

I've got to agree with Sarge. I grew up in MA since the early 50s, and have always been in tune the the MSP lighting arrangements.

I have never seen anything close to the Sireno bar, and for the most part, red was not used to the front.

I think you are right David, it must have been meant for a local agency, although, the red would have still been different.

I thought it was an 85:duh:

I understand about the CC1s, if my dad and I had a bunch of them, we wouldn't sell:D

Don't know if we have any extra whips. I think you can buy them new still, but they have the sticker on the base. You would have to peel that off since the mid 80s cars didn't have them.
