Rare Code 3 XL 9000

Just picked up this rare California spec'd Code 3 XL 9000 bar, which not only has Select-Alert on both inboard pods, but also the original Nightprobe option on both outboard pods, thus the three bulbs in each. Nightprobe was an option which allowed the outboard pods to function as alley lights when activated by a separate switch. If all of the pods are rotating and the alley light switch is activated for one side, the outboard pod on that side will "lock" in a fixed position to the side of the bar and the Nightprobe bulb will increase it's intensity, like a spotlight. The opposite side of the bar will continue to rotate, unless the alley function is selected for that side as well. This particular bar also contains forward facing steady burning lamps in both the driver and passenger side. The red dome is incorrect for this bar in that the amber cutout should be a 1/2 width insert in the inboard position, like the blue dome. The correct red dome will be installed in the near future. This bar originally came from the Hawthorne, California, Police Department. I hope to have some video of the Nightprobe feature this weekend.

Thats a great find! I always wondered if there were more xl9000s like that out there. I sure do miss the one i use to own a few years back when i found it on one of the auction sites. (I think some of you might remember from the old board) This is what it use to look like....

Sorry HillRock...i didnt know you had an eye on it. Haha.

Ryan, it was Ford-Dealer that got it. I remember him saying that he would send out the bar to get rebuilt. But im not sure if he still has it.

Sorry for digging it out!
But which typ of dual filament bulb did they used for the Nighprobe?
