Very nice find, Dan. I like how nice the above two look. You're very right about the rarity of the FBF. I've only seen one in operation in all my years in VFD and EMS, and that was on the dash of an ambulance here in Midland in the mid-70s. And I'm sure you've seen the one on "Starsky & Hutch" that the studio regularly interchanged with their Fireball light. Seems like they used another teardrop light aside from a real Fireball, too, but I'm not sure what: maybe an early SVP light.

Flashball's are pretty rare items these days. Back when they were in production, they cost about half the price of a Fireball, now that they are collectable and Federal didn't make nearly as many Flashball's as they did Fireball's, the Flashball sells for at least double, and often more, than the Fireball. As for Starsky and Hutch, the first two seasons of the tv show used a Signal Stat 384, which was Signal Stat's version of the Flashball, the last two seasons used the Federal FBH-11. The recent Starsky and Hutch movie used the SVP 1166.
